The Student Success Center strives to create an environment that fosters a balance of intellectual stimulation with productive and engaging academic support for our students. The Student Success Center is a welcoming tutoring atmosphere for all students enrolled in math, science, statistics, and other quantitative courses. The Student Success Center is led by content-qualified peer tutors, and our support systems are designed to help all students achieve their highest potential and reach their academic goals.
"STEM" stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. The STEM tutoring service primarily supports students taking classes in the College of Science and Technology and the College of Engineering, as well as students in other departments that rely heavily on Math and Science concepts, including Economics, Psychology, and Kinesiology. Tutoring sessions are one-one-one, and tutors are current Temple students who have previously been successful in the courses that they tutor. Tutoring sessions are broadly shaped by the beliefs that developing knowledge in STEM disciplines requires regular, interactive engagement with STEM concepts and processes. One of the keys to succeeding in STEM courses is practice, and especially stead practice over time. Tutors are trained in effective teaching methods in Math and Science, and to work with students of all levels of proficiency and comfort with STEM courses.
You can attend live test or final review sessions on Temple’s main campus or watch the “Class Capture” recording via Blackboard.
P.A.S.S. is designed to help you develop the learning and study skills required to succeed through the guidance of fellow students who have already succeeded in a particular course.
